About Us . . .

Mount Freedom Jewish Center provides a Junior Congregation program twice a month and a Tot Shabbat program once a month so that Mom and Dad can enjoy services more fully, knowing their children are in good hands.

Growing closer to G-D is at the heart of everything that we do.  We understand and appreciate that each person's spiritual journey is unique, and we respect the path that they've chosen.  With that said, we uphold tradition with separate seating.  However, for those men and women who choose to sit together, there is a section of the sanctuary where they may do so.  There is also mixed seating for the High Holidays except for those who choose to sit separately.  Sensitivity, respect, tolerance and acceptance are not just abstract philosophies at the Mount Freedom Jewish Center, they are ideas that are lived and practiced.  This, we feel, is what makes us a special place.

We have an active Hebrew School led by our Rabbi and attended by excellent teachers who provide each student a sound religious education in an intimate and nurturing environment.  Hebrew School meets once a week, on Tuesday afternoons, from 4:30 - 6:30 PM for first through eighth grades, from September through May.  Students experience what it means to live a Jewish life rooted in their faith, their people and their traditions.  By the time they are of Bar and Bat Mitzvah age they are well prepared for this milestone.  Our kids enjoy it so much that they have made us stay open on dates when the Randolph Schools are closed!    Attendance is open to non shul members with discounts provided to Shul members.

Mount Freedom Jewish Center also has the only Jewish Cemetery in Randolph.  It is a beautiful, peaceful place, and like our shul, is small and intimate.  Look for a sign that says "Hebrew Cemetery" on South Road, a left hand turn off of Dover Chester Road. There are family plots available with significant discounts to Shul members..

We also have a very active program of religious and social events within the Shul (See the Happenings Page) with heavy participation by our Sisterhood and Men's Club.  We have an active Program Director, Sharon Nessel who works to keep our calendar filled with exciting events and an administrator, Mike Smilack, who tends diligently to the needs of our office and the needs of the congregation and the scheduling of events.

"Mount Freedom is a neighborhood synagogue, a place where you'll be noticed when you're there, and missed when you're not."
